Barbara Lacy's Campaign Statement

It is impossible to miss that a vast majority of  our nation’s population is unhappy with the direction our country is going. I have yet to talk to anyone who feels encouraged by the prospect of what the future holds for us. If anything, it looks dismal, uncertain and potentially disastrous. There is a very real concern that the glory days of our proud country are fading fast and that we face a bleak and foreboding future.

It is customary for presidential candidates to lambast their rivals and trump how they themselves are going to get the job done right and better then the last person in office. The rhetoric you heard from former running candidate Rick Perry, for example, was that he was going to“overhaul Washington” and fix a broken” government. While I agree that an overhaul is certainly an encouraging prospect, it will never happen unless the overhaul starts with us as the people.

As someone running for the office of President, I am of the firm conviction that it is my responsibility, yes, even my duty, to be brutally frank with the citizens of this great country. I am not campaigning to sweet talk the public into supporting me, nor will I spin some lofty theatrical web of glitzy promises.  I am here to be honest about the troubles our nation faces and the things I know we have to change in order to set things right. In short, I am going to tell the truthregardless of how many apple carts it may upset. That’s what a President is supposed to do, let the people know what is really going on – set up a frank, down to earth and open dialog with the American people.

When faced with staggering national debt, economic trouble, national disgrace, unemployment and a host of other problems, citizens are understandably in an uproar. The tone of the population is toward a demand for change! Again, we return to Rick Perry’s promise to overhaul Washington.  Realistically it is totally impossible because Washington mirrors us, the majority, the average citizen. We live, thank God, in a democratic country. We don’t live in a dictatorship. The government is made up of individuals, of people we elect by popular vote. We elect the politicians that we feel represent ourbest interest and give us what we are looking for in a candidate. We support bills we favor and decry legislation that we do not feel comfortable with. Again, the majority viewpoint holds tremendous sway and inevitably governs how things turn out.

Take for example, two popular issues of tax cuts and social welfare programs. The topic of new and improved healthcare programs that give greater and greater coverage has been a tremendously popular concept in the past few decades. Tax cuts are also another popular choice. One increases government spending while the other decreases revenue. Both initiatives are passed into law by popular opinion.

So when decades later it is noticed that we as a country have borrowed ourselves into a staggering debt, who’s to blame? Washington? Or is it the citizens that chose the fantasy of spending without responsibility over basic common sense.  Here again, the point should be reiterated, Washington is a reflection of the people, because it’s made up of people with the same basic mindset as the majority of the population. You think Washington needs overhauling, look in the mirror first; You are the ones that need overhauling because YOU make up Washington.

In short, our national woes need to cause, you, the voters, to truthfully examine your priorities as individuals. Everyone has set a path for themselves. You, the American citizen, need to ask yourself, “what are my priorities and how has pursuing those priorities brought me into the position I find myself?” Is it life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness? It’s a marvelous freedom to be able to better oneself through hard work and dedication. However, liberty is destructively misused when it seems that no matter how much we have, we always want more and more. There’s a word for that mindset and it’s called greed.

President Kennedy is quoted as saying, “ask not what your country can do for you but ask what you can do for your country.” And yet our very society as a whole is far from that admonition.  Instead our society is built to foster, encourage, coddle and reward minimum effort; it glorifies individualism over teamwork, indulgence instead of conservation. Our society encourages us to cater to our every whim. This leads to a very dysfunctional society, one that cannot operate in harmony with itself as each individual pursues instant gratification heedless of the ramifications it has on the planet, on the ecosystem and for the rest of the population. This is extremely self-destructive. This priority towards sensualism has put us, as a country, on a path of certain devastation. We have put the gun of sensationalism to our head and pulled the trigger, vainly imagining that there are no repercussions. And yet daily we are hammered by the miserable aftermath of past foolish decisions. It’s as if our country is under the narcotic influence of LSD and we think we can jump off a building without any safety equipment and we will survive the fall.

What will reverse this course that we are on? What will put us back on track of ethics, principles and a moral sense of right and wrong that our country was founded on? To answer that question we only need to examine our historical origin as a country.

When our founding fathers faced certain demise at the hands of the British forces they had the common sense to call unto Divine Providence for help and guidance in those very perilous times. This request is recorded in the Declaration of Independence, a historical document on full display in Washington DC. Historical victory of unprecedented degree against staggering odds proves that our founding fathers’ request was answered.  We have enjoyed prosperity to an extent that has baffled and even been the envy of much of the world. So what kind of responsibility does this enlist from us that were the recipient of such bounties? In times past, thousands of years before our time, when nations, peoples, were prospered by Divine Providence, their reaction was to take a portion of that bounty and return it to Divine Providence out of respect and appreciation. That only makes sense, that we should give a token of our appreciation. Otherwise, we are counted as thieves who are unwilling to repay that which we owe, at the very least, for services rendered establishing America as a country unto itself in impossible times.

Is it any wonder that this nation is facing staggering financial woes?  If we don’t pay our debt to Divine Providence, then, of course, we are going to find ourselves in debt to the world. This nation has spent billions of dollars that did not belong to us and wasted them on countries that turned around and despised us.

A parallel can be drawn from history.

In Old Testament times, a clear picture of the worship of Divine Providence for mankind to follow was given to Israel by the prophet Moses, who was loved by God his Father. Israel was to follow a set procedure ordered by God. The Book of Numbers, as well as other early books, lays out in great, clear detail the order.

This exposure to the Living God caused Israel to prosper exceedingly when His worship was carried out exactly and all commands observed. What this way of life did was to put the person of the Holy One of Israel into Israel’s conscience and made God very real. Many events honoring God were scheduled yearly; ministering praise and other forms of worship toward Him were carried out daily.

It was the function of the priests and Levites to carry out those duties. When Israel counted this common or arbitrary, they fell away into sin, iniquity, and lost their sense of purpose.

They left the most Holy God out of their existence; not a wise move. They ended up as a nation held in contempt, diseased with the curses, afflicted and ruled over by other nations. Miserable indeed was their lot, a nation of slaves to their captors.

In the Book of Nehemiah, prayer was made by a captive Israelite for respite from their miserable captivity. God mercifully answered and acted favorably towards them.

He also gave them a command to rebuild His House of worship, the Holy Temple of the Lord God of Heaven. In this, they, and all who helped them, would find deliverance and great blessing from the Most High.

For Israel, it seemed an almost impossible task. They were captives in an enemy land. Their country was in ruins. The walls of Jerusalem were broken down; the beautiful House of the Lord was rubbish, a wasteland consumed by fire.

Yes, there had been serious consequence for the wickedness of forsaking God.

But here was a chance to bring back their country, to be prosperous again and free. The people had been previously working with a determined purpose. They did much building, working on things they thought important. Yet, there was great want, for the labor of their hands was very unrewarding. The Book of Haggai describes what was important to them: their own houses and their immediate comfort. The prophet Haggai corrected them.

Haggai 2:14 And now, I pray you: consider from this day upward, from before a stone was laid upon a stone in the temple of the Lord:

V 17 I smote you with blasting and with mildew and hail in all the labours of your hand: yet ye turned not to me, saith the Lord. Yet, the Lord goes on in
verses18 and 19: Consider now from this day and upward, from the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, EVEN from the day that the foundation of the Lord’s temple was laid consider it. IS the seed yet in the barn? Yea, as yet the vine and the fig tree, and the pomegranate hath not brought forth: FROM THIS DAY will I BLESS YOU.

What is important today is that God’s Holy Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, has been commissioned to build His Father a HOUSE called the House of the Lord and it is to be built now!

Haggai 12:6 FOR thus saith the LORD of HOSTS: yet once: it is a little while, and I WILL SHAKE all nations, and the desire of ALL nations shall come: and I will fill this HOUSE with GLORY, saith THE LORD of HOSTS:

The SILVER is MINE, and the GOLD is MINE, SAITH the LORD of hosts.

THE GLORY of this latter house shall be GREATER than the former, saith THE LORD of HOSTS: and in this PLACE will I give PEACE, saith THE LORD of HOSTS
.

To be very specific, assisting God’s Son in building His Father a House supersedes all individual or collective actions, worldwide. It will be the primary focus of every nation and every person on earth. As each individual and each nation seeks first the Kingdom of God, all the other things that they have need of will be provided to them. This is a Holy promise from the immutable Word of God.

As president, along with my vice-president, I will be able to coordinate all aspects of this Divine undertaking as a vessel in whom the Lord Jesus Christ dwells.

Building the most Holy House of the Lord brings to this nation and to the world a solution to all the problems of this existence. All physical and spiritual needs will be met: health, strength, youth, peace and sense of purpose.

There will be no more wars or unemployment. Everyone will have a part. There will be no lack of food, clothing, shelter or any of mankind’s basic needs.

The action of building God’s Holy House will bring joy, rejoicing, and a divine purpose over the entire world. A true peace bringing the reality to all of Luke 2:14 Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace, goodwill toward men.

This is quite a campaign promise from the Living God, the Lord Jesus Christ, who never lies. It is backed up by His loving Father who makes all things possible.

This is the same God who divided the sea, fed multitudes from virtually nothing, healed all manner of sickness, caused the sun and moon to stand still, raised the dead to life and did countless other miracles – many recorded, innumerable others not.

His Word is with us and He counts that Word Holy as unbreakable, not a campaign promise to be broken, not in the least. Stand on that fact.
